Reverend Donald R. A. Toussaint, Sr., Pastor

 

Reverend Donald R. A. Toussaint, Sr is currently the Pastor of the Friendship Baptist Church in Trenton, New Jersey. Reverend Toussaint most recently served for six and one half years as pastor of Zion First Baptist Church of Middletown, Connecticut and for nine years as Youth Pastor of the Greater New Mount Eagle Missionary Baptist Church of Chicago, Illinois. Reverend Toussaint comes from Chicago and has an enriched history that includes ancestry from Liberia, Haiti, New Orleans, Louisiana, and Columbia, Mississippi.

 

Reverend Toussaint attended Alcorn State University, Lorman Mississippi, Chicago Baptist Institute, Chicago, Illinois and earned a Bachelors Degree in Christian Education from Andersonville Baptist Seminary, Camilla, Georgia, He attended Interdenominational Theological Center, Atlanta, GA a Certificate of Administration and Management. Reverend Toussaint   completed A two-year comprehensive BMP Program at Hartford Seminary where he graduated with a 3.1 GPA, and served as Chaplain of the 2005 class. Reverend Toussaint is currently enrolled in a cooperative master of Divinity degree program between Hartford Theological Seminary and the Yale Divinity School.

 

Reverend Toussaint was licensed and ordained in 1994 at the Greater New Mt Eagle Baptist Church in Chicago, Illinois. Reverend Toussaint Ministry Experience Include Sunday School Instructor for nine years, Children and Youth Pastor For Nine Years, Greater New Mt. Eagle M. B. Church, National Sunday School Publishing Board Workshop Presenter. Reverend Toussaint served for four year as President of The Young Minister Department of the United Baptist State Convention of Illinois.  He Served as State Director of the Prison Ministry and Criminal Justice Commission UBSCOI for Four Years. In 2004, Reverend Toussaint was honored to preach the opening message for the 24th Annual Winter Board Meeting of the National Baptist Convention USA, Inc.

 

 

Reverend Toussaint until his call to Friendship Baptist Church was an active member of The Zebulun Association and served as the Assistant Financial Chairman for the Connecticut Missionary Baptist State Convention. Reverend Toussaint is currently a member of the Executive Board of Middlesex Central Baptist Association of New Jersey and a member of the General Baptist Convention of New Jersey. He is also a member of the curriculum committee for the National Baptist Convention USA, Inc. Reverend Toussaint most recently served as a member of the Grievance Board for the America Red Cross of Middletown, Connecticut.

 

Pastor Toussaint is a 33 Degree Prince Hall Mason, and was recently a member of the Middletown NAACP, And the Connecticut Inter-Faith Coalition for Justice. Pastor Toussaint is currently a member of the National Action Network Board.

 

During his tenure as Pastor at Zion First Baptist Church, he created several new ministries and initiatives which enhanced the spiritual growth. According to the word of God, by following Leadership, and move at God’s command, in his first year at Zion, Reverend Toussaint established the Greeter’s Ministry, Health and Nursing ministry, the first Laymen’s Ministry in the state of Connecticut, Public Relations Ministry, Women’s Ministry with five Circles: Deborah, Esther, Ruth, Naomi and Hannah Circles and established a food bank which fed approximately forty-five Families A month, Executive Committee, Senior’s Ministry, Announcement Ministry and Activity’s Ministry. In addition established a Presidential Council Ministry of all leaders.  Reverend Toussaint also created a new Children and Youth Ministry, a Christian Education Department and initiated the “Can Do 500” financial plan to pay off the church mortgage. The mortgage was paid off nine years earlier than planned in August of 2003.
